P2WL-LF — System Sensor L-Series indoor selectable-output low frequency sounder strobe, 2-wire, wall mount, white, combining a 520 Hz ± 10% square wave sounder with a xenon strobe.
The L-Series low frequency sounder strobes were designed to address the NFPA 72 sleeping space requirement for a notification appliance operating within a frequency range of 520 Hz ± 10% with a square wave tone. The appliance uses the L-Series plug-in design with minimal intrusion into the back box, and a universal mounting plate with an onboard shorting spring so installers can test wiring continuity before the device is installed. Candela, tone pattern and volume are all field selectable, and the housing carries a permanent marking that reads “520 Hz”. The P2WL-LF is a direct replacement for the earlier SpectrAlert Advance P2WH-LF and is electrically compatible with legacy SpectrAlert and SpectrAlert Advance devices.

Installation notes

24 volts only: L-Series low frequency sounder strobes are regulated 24 VDC/FWR appliances with a 16 to 33 V operating range. There is no 12-volt option on this device.

Wall candela values: the selectable range 15, 30, 75, 95, 110, 135 and 185 cd is the wall set. The ceiling model PC2WL-LF uses a different set (15, 30, 75, 95, 115, 150, 177) — the two are not interchangeable in a design.

No Coded setting: the sounder on sounder strobe models operates on a non-coded power supply and offers Temporal 3, Temporal 4 and Continuous only. The Coded position exists on the sounder-only models such as the HWL-LF.

FWR draws considerably more current than DC at the same setting — for example 368 mA against 305 mA at 185 cd Continuous High. Size the notification appliance circuit on the figure matching the actual supply type.

Back boxes: a standard 4 x 4 x 1-1/2-inch back box, 4-inch octagon box or double-gang box. Being a 2-wire product it may also mount to a single-gang 2 x 4 x 1-7/8-inch back box.

Synchronization: compatible with the MDL3 Sync•Circuit module, which synchronizes strobes at 1 Hz and the low frequency sounder at temporal three, and can silence the sounder while the strobes continue over a single pair of wires. On the MDL3, 24-volt rated NAC outputs operate between 16.5 and 33 volts.

Panel compatibility: if the appliances are not UL 9th edition listed with the panel or power supply in use, refer to the panel compatibility listing to determine the maximum devices on a circuit.
