System Sensor P2RL is an L-Series indoor selectable-output horn strobe: 2-wire, wall mount, red housing with “FIRE” marking. It uses a xenon flash tube and is the pre-LED model, superseded by the P2RLED.
Plug-in design keeps intrusion into the back box minimal, and a universal mounting plate with an onboard shorting spring lets installers test wiring continuity before the device is installed. Candela is field-selectable, 12 or 24 volt operation is selected automatically, and a rotary switch sets the horn tone with two volume selections. The strobe flashes at 1 Hz over its entire operating voltage range and complies with ADA requirements for visible signaling appliances.

Replacement
The P2RL is replaced by the LED-based System Sensor P2RLED. The P2RLED is 24 V only (16-33 V) with much lower strobe current, so check NAC loading and any 12 V circuits before swapping. The P2RL is electrically compatible with legacy SpectrAlert and SpectrAlert Advance devices.
Installation notes

12 V operation is limited to 15 and 30 cd. Designs at 75 cd or above must run at 24 V nominal.

No coded horn settings on a 2-wire model; temporal coding must come from the NAC.

Wall mounting only. Wall units use 15/30/75/95/110/135/185 cd; ceiling models use a different candela set.

FWR draws more current than DC at the same setting. Size the NAC from the column matching your supply.

Sync: the MDL3 Sync•Circuit module synchronizes strobes at 1 Hz and horns at temporal three.
