Simplex 49SV-APPLC — a TrueAlert ES ceiling-mount addressable speaker/visible (S/V) notification appliance, combining a multi-tapped speaker with a multi-candela strobe that flashes at a synchronized 1 Hz rate.
The appliance is individually powered, addressed, and controlled from a Simplex fire alarm control panel IDNAC signaling line circuit, while audio is carried on a separate compatible Simplex audio circuit. Because wiring supervision is electronically monitored, audio wiring may be T-tapped for Class B, which reduces wiring cost and distance. The 49SV-APPLC ships as the appliance only — a cover from the 49SVC-C series must be ordered separately, which is what lets one appliance serve red or white housings and ALERT, FIRE, FEU, FEU/FIRE, bilingual, or Simplex-logo lettering without stocking a different appliance for each.

Installation notes

Cover sold separately: the APPLC part number is the appliance only. A 49SVC-C series cover is required to complete the assembly, and the cover determines housing color and lettering.

Two circuits, not one: the strobe is powered, addressed, and controlled from the IDNAC SLC, but the speaker must be wired to a separate compatible Simplex audio circuit. This is not a two-wire appliance.

Use unshielded twisted pair: the data sheet specifies UTP for both IDNAC and audio wiring.

T-tap only on Class B: electronic wiring supervision permits T-tapped audio wiring for Class B circuits; this is what keeps wiring distances down.

ULC 85 dBA applications: under ULC the 1 W and 2 W taps are the ones that meet the 85 dBA minimum — the 1/4 W and 1/2 W taps do not.

Synchronization limit: up to 63 synchronized strobes per powered circuit, which is a tighter constraint than the 127-address SLC limit.
