Simplex 4100-6056 — Wired Media Card for 4100U and 4100ES network interface and physical bridge modules.
A 4100 node does not meet the wire directly: the network interface card or TCP/IP physical bridge presents a left and a right port, and each port takes a media card that sets the physical medium. This is the twisted-pair choice; a fiber card is picked for electrically noisy or long external runs. Two media cards fit each host card and they may be mixed, so one port can be copper and the other fiber.
- Simplex assembly 565-413; 40-pin connector to the host card
- Power 4.75 to 5.25 VDC at 170 mA maximum
- 18 AWG runs must be twisted shielded pair; 24 AWG telephone cable must be twisted pair
- Shield terminates to chassis earth on the left port only
- Operating 32° to 120°F (0° to 49°C)
One card, two interface generations — and the generation decides its fiber sibling. On the 4100/4120-6014 NIC that is the 4100-6057; on the 4100-6078 or 4100-6061 interface it is the 4120 duplex fiber family, 4100-6301/-6302 single-mode and 4100-6303/-6304 multi-mode, paired left port to right port. 4100/4120-0142 is the wired card for older non-4100U panels.
