Simplex 4098-9019 — addressable reflective beam smoke detector system for wide-area protection.
The 4098-9019 protects large, open spaces where spot-type detectors are impractical: warehouses, atriums, auditoriums, convention centers, shopping malls, sports arenas and other high-ceiling areas. Rather than sampling air at a single point, it projects an infrared beam across the protected space to a prism reflector and monitors the returned signal for the light obscuration caused by smoke, so a single unit covers a footprint that would otherwise need many detectors.
It uses auto-aligning, self-compensating infrared technology, which re-aligns the beam as the structure settles or moves with temperature change — historically the most common source of nuisance trouble on beam detectors. The controller mounts at ground level so commissioning and routine service do not require a lift, while the beam head is installed at height. The unit communicates over IDNet and reports to the fire alarm control panel as an addressable device.
Confirm head and reflector configuration, mounting heights and maximum beam distance against the Simplex installation documentation for your application.
