Simplex 4098-5251 — MX 850 Series addressable multi-sensor combining photoelectric smoke sensing with heat sensing, with a short-circuit isolator in the head.
Simplex describes it as the 4098-5252 photoelectric sensor with the heat sensor of the 4098-5253 added, so one head covers a location carrying more than one risk. Analog readings are judged by the MX Fastlogic algorithm, which weighs smoke density, rate of change and peak suppression against recorded fire data.
- Communicates on the MX Loop and takes one address per sensor base
- 350 µA supervisory and 4.0 mA maximum in alarm, from the MX Loop
- For 4100ES, 4010ES and 4100U Series panels fitted with an MX Loop Module
- 32° to 100° F (0° to 38° C), indoor use only, up to 93% RH
- 109 × 43 mm (4-1/4 × 1-11/16 in.); base terminals take 20 to 14 AWG
- Smoke sensors listed to UL 268, heat sensors to UL 521
It is a smoke detector with heat sensing rather than a heat detector. The single-element siblings are the 4098-5252 photoelectric and the 4098-5253 heat sensor, and the 4098-5254 adds a CO cell. Mount it on the 4098-5260 continuity base.
