At this level of the 4003EC catalog the part is a complete keyswitch-controlled paging station rather than a loose microphone. The plate carries a push-to-talk handheld microphone on a coiled cord, a Simplex B-key switch and three system status lamps; the operator turns the key to ON, presses the microphone button and speaks. The box is not supplied: Simplex calls for a four-gang box at least 1-1/2 in. deep, by others. The station reports to a 4003EC Emergency Communications voice control unit, which must already exist. One remote microphone can land directly on the control unit; more need 4003-9834 expansion modules, to a system total of 18, and only one microphone pages at a time.
