Simplex 2975-9461 — red surface-mount metal box for 4606 Series colour touchscreen LCD annunciators.
A remote annunciator usually lands at a lobby or fire department entrance, and those walls are often masonry or finished surfaces nobody wants opened up for a gang box. The surface box carries the annunciator on the face of the wall and gives 2 1/2 in. of depth behind it for the communications pair, 24 VDC power and earth ground to be landed.

- Annunciator wiring is 18 to 12 AWG unshielded twisted pair for communications plus two 18 to 12 AWG conductors for 24 VDC, with earth ground to each box.
The adjacent numbers are the easy mistake: 2975-9463 and 2975-9464 are the semi-flush box adapters, only 1 3/4 in. deep. The older 4606-9101 LCD annunciator takes a different surface box, the ivory 2975-9206.
