Simplex 2975-9218 — red Intrinsically Safe Barrier Cabinet, the enclosure required by the Simplex 2081-9062 and 2081-9063 isolated barrier modules.
A Simplex intrinsically safe barrier lets an initiating device circuit reach into a classified area by holding output current below the ignition energy of the atmospheres in NEC Articles 500 through 517. The module is not standalone: it mounts on a bracket inside this cabinet, which sits in the non-hazardous location while only the field wiring continues into the hazardous space.

- 12" W × 8-3/8" H × 3-1/2" D (305 mm × 213 mm × 89 mm)
- Required accessory for the 2081-9062 single channel and 2081-9063 dual channel modules
- Each module also needs a 2081-9061 kit with bracket and end-of-line resistors
- Needs a safety ground per NEC Article 250-42, 12 AWG minimum; the module is not grounded
This is not a device backbox. The stations it serves use their own boxes: 2975-9178 red surface steel and 2975-9022 red cast aluminum, both for the 2099-9767 and 2099-9799 stations.
