Silent Knight 6815 — a signaling line circuit (SLC) expander for Honeywell Silent Knight 6820 and 6820EVS fire alarm control panels using System Sensor (SK) protocol. Each 6815 adds a further loop supporting 159 SK sensors and 159 SK modules.
The number of 6815 modules that can be used within one system is dependent on maximum available points, so the expander provides a powerful way to customize configurations in large or complex installations. The 6820 and 6820EVS panels support up to 1,110 points maximum and come with one integrated SLC circuit; each added 6815 supports an additional 159 SK and SWIFT sensors and 159 SK and SWIFT modules. The 6815 communicates with the FACP via an RS-485 system bus, and a green LED on the 6815 board blinks to indicate good communication. If an addressable device on a 6815 SLC circuit fails, it communicates the failure to the FACP and continues to operate normally. SLC wiring uses standard wire — twisted pair or shielded cable are not required. Up to two 6815 modules can be housed in the FACP or RPS-1000 cabinet, or in the 5815RMK Remote Mounting Kit.

Installation notes

System point count governs quantity: the maximum point count for the 6820 and 6820EVS limits the number of 6815 modules that can be added to an installation — the expander does not raise the panel’s overall ceiling.

SK protocol only — not for Hochiki: Hochiki SD devices use the 5815XL SLC expander instead (refer to datasheet 350098). Specifying the 6815 for a Hochiki loop is the common mis-order on this part.

Diagnostics: a green LED on the 6815 board blinks to indicate good communication over the RS-485 bus.

Fault tolerance: if an addressable device on a 6815 SLC circuit fails, the module reports the failure to the FACP and continues to operate normally.
