Siemens ABHW-4B — intelligent, supervised, addressable audible sounder base, part S54320-F13-A1, giving a 3,000 Hz tone at up to 85 dBA at 10 ft.
It does the job of two devices: a Series 11 detector base with a sounder built in, so a room gets local audibility without a separate appliance. Siemens calls it the first agency-listed audible base able to draw alarm power straight from the signal line circuit, in two wires, with a Desigo head.
- Six configurable tones at two volume levels, from steady to Canadian March Time 30
- 16 to 33 VDC on loop or external power; alarm current 7.5 mA loop powered on high
- Listed UL 268, UL 464, UL 2075, ULC-S525 and ULC-S529
- 32 °F to 120 °F, 10 to 95% relative humidity
- Fits a 4 in. square gang box of 2.5 in. depth only; a 4 in. octagon box is not compatible
The letter after the 4 is the whole decision. ABHW-4S is the sleeping-area base with a 520 Hz low-frequency sounder, and Siemens states that the ABHW-4B meets UL 464, UL 2075 and ULC-S525 except the 520 Hz requirement, so the two are not substitutes where low frequency is required. Heads are ordered separately.
