Potter PAD300-PD is an analog addressable photoelectric smoke detector for fire alarm control panels that use the Potter Addressable Device (PAD) protocol, with a low profile of less than 2 in. when installed on a PAD300 base.
The PAD300-PD takes one address on the signaling line circuit (SLC). Sensitivity is selectable from 1.1 to 3.5 %/ft and reported to the panel. Drift compensation adjusts for dirt in the chamber, and an optional maintenance alert flags the detector for cleaning before it causes a trouble. The address is set with DIP switches on the back of the head, with no programming tool needed. An insect screen protects the chamber, and the single LED flashes on each poll (the polling flash can be turned off). It carries a 5-year warranty.

Compatible with
-
Panels: Potter IPA series, AFC series or ARC fire alarm control panels. Sensitivity and supervision are set from the panel.
-
Bases (PAD300 only, ordered separately): PAD300-4DB 4 in., PAD300-6DB 6 in., PAD300-IB isolator, PAD300-RB Form C relay (2 A @ 30 VDC), PAD300-SB sounder and PAD300-LFSB 520 Hz low-frequency sounder.
-
Related model: PAD300-PHD adds a heat sensor (135°F fixed, 15°F/min rate-of-rise).
Installation notes
-
Unique address: set the rear DIP switches (switch 1 = 1 up to switch 7 = 64), then plug the head into the base and turn clockwise.
-
LED limit: if 30 LEDs on the loop are already lit, the detector still operates but its LED may not light.
-
Testing: the magnet test does not replace the aerosol smoke test required by NFPA 72.
-
Cleaning: at least once a year, by vacuum on the sensing chamber.
