Every fire alarm panel needs a secondary supply that carries detection and notification through an AC outage. The BT-80 is Potter’s mid-size battery for that duty and a routine replacement item, since sealed lead-acid cells are consumables, load-tested and swapped on schedule.

Confirm the required amp-hour rating against your panel’s battery calculation before ordering — the ELK series also offers the 4.5 Ah BT-40 and the 12 Ah BT-120 in similar cases, and substituting capacity invalidates the standby calculation. Batteries are used in series pairs for 24 V panels and should be replaced as a matched set.
