NOTIFIER FDU-80 — an 80-character, backlit LCD remote fire annunciator with control switches for remote control of system functions and a key-switch lock.
The FDU-80 is a compact, cost-effective remote annunciator for use with the NOTIFIER FireWarden-100-2, NFS2-640 and NFS-320 fire alarm control panels. It mimics the display of the control panel and shows complete system point status information — device type identifiers, individual point alarm, trouble or supervisory state, zone and custom alpha labels, and a time-and-date field. Communication with the panel runs over an EIA-485 serial interface, which greatly reduces wire and installation cost compared with traditional annunciator systems, and the FDU-80 requires no programming at all, saving time during system commissioning. Control switches cover System Acknowledge, Signal Silence, Drill and Reset behind an enable key, and system status LEDs indicate Power, Alarm, Trouble, Supervisory and Alarm Silenced. A local piezo sounder provides alarm and trouble resound. All field-wiring terminations use removable, compression-type plug-in terminal blocks for ease of wiring and circuit testing.

Installation notes
-
Box depth is the usual site problem: semi-flush mounting needs a three-gang box at least 2.188 in. (5.556 cm) deep — a shallow three-gang box will not take the annunciator. Order the 10103 box for new work, or the SBB-3 backbox to surface mount.
-
UL against ULC: the FDU-80 carries the UL listing. For Canadian projects the ULC-listed version is the FDU-80C, covered by a separate data sheet, DN-60573.
-
Power source: the annunciator can draw from the host FACP or from a remote 24 VDC supply. On systems approaching the 32-annunciator limit, plan the power source deliberately rather than assuming the panel can carry every unit.
-
Distance: the EIA-485 run may extend up to 6,000 feet (1828.8 m) from the panel.
-
No programming: the FDU-80 connects to the terminal port and mirrors the panel; there is no annunciator database to build or maintain.
