Mircom MIX-2351AP — a Select Series low-profile intelligent photoelectric smoke detector, addressable by rotary switch and reporting analog smoke density to a compatible Mircom fire alarm control panel.
The MIX-2351AP is a plug-in detector head with point ID capability: each address is set with on-board rotary address switches, so the panel identifies the exact device location rather than a zone. Its re-designed optical sensing chamber is engineered to sense smoke from a wide range of combustion sources in line with more stringent code standards, and detector sensitivity is continually monitored and reported back to the panel. Sensitivity itself is programmed through the control panel software to suit the environment. Mircom’s Advanced Protocol is a high-speed communication protocol that increases the speed of communication between intelligent devices on the loop. Dual LEDs give 360° visibility. The detector head ships on its own — the mounting base (B300-6, B501-WHITE or a sounder, isolator or relay base) is ordered separately.

Installation notes

The head is not the detector: the published height and diameter figures only apply once the head is seated in a base, and the two base families give different diameters — 6.2 in. on the 6-inch flanged B300-6, 4.1 in. on the 4-inch flangeless B501. Choose the base before cutting ceiling openings.

Photoelectric only, no thermal element: the MIX-2351AP senses smoke. The 135°F (57°C) fixed-temperature thermal sensing with dual electronic thermistors belongs to the MIX-2351TAP multi-sensor, not to this model. Do not specify the AP where a sequence needs heat detection.

Remote test is a different part: remote test capability for use with a duct smoke detector is a feature of the MIX-2351RAP, not the MIX-2351AP.

Sensitivity lives in the panel: detector sensitivity is programmed in the control panel software, not set on the head, so a replacement head inherits whatever the panel has stored for that address.

UL versus ULC: order the MIX-2351AP for UL jurisdictions and the MIX-2351APA, designed to meet CAN/ULC S529 Rev. 4 and CAN/ULC S530, for Canadian ones. Bases are also split into UL (B300-6) and ULC (B300A-6) part numbers.
