Gamewell-FCI MCS-COF3-IV — a plug-in addressable multi-criteria fire/CO detector in ivory that combines four separate sensing elements — smoke, carbon monoxide, light/flame and heat — while using only one address on the SLC loop.
Photoelectric sensors detect airborne particles associated with smoke; thermal sensors detect heat and rate-of-rise with a 135°F fixed temperature threshold; infrared sensors discern light patterns in the environment as an additional data point for alarm determination; and an electrochemical CO cell creates a separate signal for life safety carbon monoxide detection. Sophisticated algorithms combine all four sensor types for enhanced sensitivity to real fire with heightened immunity to nuisance particulate — including the ability to reject triggers such as theater smoke, which suits the detector to spaces where moderate to heavy nuisance conditions would false-alarm a single-sensing detector. B200S series intelligent sounder bases are recommended: they generate a Temp 3 pattern for fire or a Temp 4 pattern for CO alarm, and recognize the System Sensor synchronization protocol so the base can form part of the general evacuation signal. The mounting base is ordered separately.

Installation notes

Velociti® protocol only: the MCS-COF3 family operates in Velociti® SLC protocol. Confirm panel compatibility before specifying it on a legacy loop.

One address, two alarm types: the detector occupies a single SLC address but reports fire and CO as separate signals — program the panel so a CO alarm does not annunciate as fire.

Sounder base for distinct tones: a separate audible signal for fire (Temp 3) versus CO (Temp 4) requires a B200S series intelligent sounder base. A plain B501 or B300-6 base gives no local audible.

Narrower temperature range than a plain smoke detector: the CO cell limits the detector to 32°F to 100°F (0°C to 38°C). Do not use it in unconditioned spaces rated for wider-range detectors.

CO cell end of life: the electrochemical cell has a 10-year life with an end-of-life warning; budget for detector replacement rather than cell service.

Color kits are IR-specific: use the CK300-IR series color kits (cover and trim ring) — the standard CK300 kits are for detectors without the infrared sensor.

Ivory accessories: match the ivory body with B501-IV, B300-6-IV, B200S-IV, B224BI-IV or B224RB-IV bases and the TR300-IV trim ring.
