Gamewell-FCI ASD-PL3R-IV — a Velociti® Series 3 plug-in intelligent photoelectric smoke sensor in ivory, with remote test capability for duct applications.
The ASD-PL3R-IV combines a photoelectronic sensing chamber with addressable-analog communications, transmitting an analog representation of smoke density over the communication line to the control panel. Rotary dial switches set the sensor address, and devices are point addressable up to 159 addresses. Two panel-controlled LEDs indicate sensor status and can be set on, off or blinking in red, green or amber; an output is provided for an optional RA100Z remote LED annunciator, which may be synchronized to the LED operation or controlled independently. The sensor is listed for use in ducts and inside DNR(W) duct smoke detector housings, where it can be tested remotely with the RTS151 or RTS151KEY test accessories — eliminating the need for a test coil. The mounting base is supplied separately.

Installation notes

Ivory model is the dual-protocol one: ASD-PL3R-IV supports either Velociti® or CLIP mode, while the bright white ASD-PL3R supports Velociti® protocol only. Choose the -IV part when a legacy CLIP loop is involved.

Base sold separately: the sensor uses the base for wiring. Wire the base first, set the address, then push the sensor in while turning clockwise. Remove power from the communication line before installing sensors.

Do not loop wire under terminals 1 or 2: break the wire run so the connections are supervised.

Duct temperature range is wider than the open-area range: 32°F to 122°F in normal use, but -4°F to 158°F when installed in duct applications.

Remote test: use the RTS151 or RTS151KEY with a DNR(W) housing. Maximum test response time may be up to two communications from the panel.

Dust covers: covers give only limited protection during shipping and must be removed before the sensor can sense smoke. Remove sensors prior to heavy remodeling or construction.

Tamper resistance: the ASD-PL3R-IV can be set so it cannot be removed from the base without a tool — see the base manual.

Spacing: space per NFPA 72; in low air flow applications with smooth ceilings, 30 ft (9.1 m) apart.

Approved accessories only: only System Sensor approved accessories may be used with this sensor.
