SMCO410 (Cat. 1048325) — First Alert 2-in-1 smart smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with a photoelectric smoke chamber, an electrochemical CO sensor and a Z-Wave radio, powered by a sealed 10-year lithium powercell.
The SMCO410 is a self-contained residential alarm that reports over Z-Wave to a compatible hub rather than over interconnect wiring. It combines a photoelectric smoke sensing chamber with an electrochemical CO sensor in one housing and sounds a 3kHz P-Horn at 85dB. Power comes from a sealed, tamperproof lithium powercell that cannot be removed; when it reaches end of service life the whole alarm is replaced. The unit ships with mounting hardware and is listed for wall mounting or ceiling mounting up to 12 inches from the wall. Smart operation requires an Android or iOS device and a Ring Alarm or Ring Alarm Pro security kit with the Alarm Smoke and CO Listener.

Installation notes

The battery cannot be replaced: the powercell is sealed and tamperproof by design. At end of life the alarm meets UL requirements for disabling itself and preventing re-installation on the mounting bracket, so the unit is replaced, not re-celled.

Hub is required for smart features: an Android or iOS device plus a Ring Alarm or Ring Alarm Pro security kit with the Alarm Smoke and CO Listener is required. The alarm operates with third-party certified Z-Wave devices enabled with the First Alert protocol.

Ceiling mounting is limited to 12 inches: the unit is listed for wall or up to 12" ceiling mounting — confirm placement against the manual’s recommended and avoid locations.

Two silence features: low battery chirp can be silenced for up to 8 hours; nuisance smoke/CO alarms can be temporarily silenced.

End-of-life signal: silenceable for up to about 2 days, after which it resumes; after about 2 weeks it can no longer be silenced.

Tamper locking: tamper-resistant locking pins can lock the battery drawer and/or lock the alarm to its mounting bracket.
