An end-of-line resistor sits at the far end of an initiating device circuit or notification appliance circuit and is what allows the control panel to supervise the wiring. The panel continuously senses the resistor across the loop; if the circuit is cut, shorted, or a device is disconnected, that sensed value changes and the panel reports a trouble condition instead of silently failing. Without the correct EOL resistor in place, a break in the field wiring can go undetected.
The ELR-47K is the 47K ohm value used on Fire•Lite fire alarm control panels. Always confirm the required resistance against the installation manual for your specific panel and circuit type — resistor value varies by circuit, and fitting the wrong value will produce persistent supervision faults.
