Det-Tronics 30-3013 — an explosion-proof photoelectric smoke detector with an intrinsically safe hot-swappable sensor module, 0–20 mA and relay outputs, FM/IECEx/CSA approved for Class I, Division 1 and Zone 1 hazardous locations.
The 30-3013 provides smoke detection inside classified areas — petroleum refineries, chemical processing plants, volatile chemical and combustible storage, munitions manufacturing, turbine enclosures, battery rooms and HVAC applications. It is designed to respond to both smouldering and rapidly growing fires and annunciates its own faults, so there are no undisclosed failures. Because the sensor module is intrinsically safe and hot-swappable, it can be replaced live under power without de-classifying the hazardous area. Three relays — smoke alarm, fault and auxiliary — drive annunciating devices or interface to a fire panel, and the 0–20 mA output supports DCS or PLC integration. The detector ships as an assembly of sensor module, LED, retaining ring and aluminium junction box.

A 30-3013A1N13A, for example, is an aluminium 1-port unit with 3/4" NPT thread and latching outputs. Confirm the full model code when ordering, since port count, thread form and latching behaviour are all fixed at build.
Installation notes
-
IP44 is ceiling-mount only: the IP44 rating is maintained only when the detector is mounted on a ceiling. CSA lists this explicitly as a condition of safe use.
-
Unused ports must be plugged: all unused device openings must be closed with a suitably certified plug. Det-Tronics stop plugs are 101197-001 (3/4" NPT, aluminium) and 101197-005 (M25, aluminium).
-
Conduit seal: CSA requires a seal installed within 18 in of the enclosure, and field wiring must follow CEC Part 1, Section 18 with the enclosure bonded to ground.
-
Metric entries: for enclosures with metric conduit entries, certified metric-to-NPT adaptors must be used.
-
Field wiring temperature rating: use wire rated 20°C above the maximum ambient temperature.
-
Flameproof joints are not repairable: on AEx d rated units the flameproof joints may not be repaired in the field. The detector itself is not field repairable and must be returned to the factory under an RMA; only the sensor module is field replaceable.
-
Sensor module part number differs from the U5015: the 30-3013 replacement sensor module is 104286-001. The later U5015 uses 104286-003, and the two are not interchangeable with respect to duct-mount accessories — the Q3013D/Q5016 suits 104286-001 and the Q5017R suits 104286-003.
-
Mechanical damage and static: the FM and IECEx certificates are “X” conditional — install only where the risk of mechanical damage is low, and follow the instructions regarding potential electrostatic charging.
-
Duct installations: the 30-3013 must be used with the Q3013D Duct Mount Accessory for duct mounting. The UL 268A listing for the duct accessory applies only when it is installed on the vertical surface of the duct.
