SMCO600NV-AC — First Alert SC5 Wired Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, a 120VAC hardwired combination smoke and CO alarm with voice alerts, hardwire interconnect and app connectivity.
The SC5 wired alarm is intended for single-family residences and is installed on a junction box using the supplied mounting bracket and a Quick-Connect power connector, so an existing compatible alarm can be swapped without rewiring. It must be fed from a 24-hour 120VAC pure sine wave 60Hz circuit that cannot be switched off by a switch, dimmer or GFCI. Battery back-up is shipped with a pull tab in place and is activated by removing that tab during installation. Voice alerts announce the type of danger and the programmed location, and the alarm reports to a phone through the First Alert by Resideo app.

Installation notes

Dedicated 24-hour circuit: the manual specifically requires a circuit that cannot be turned off by a switch, dimmer or GFCI. Feeding the alarm from a switched or GFCI-protected circuit may prevent it from providing constant protection.

Pure sine wave only: AC-powered alarms should only be operated with true or pure sine wave inverters. Most battery-powered UPS units are not suitable.

Orange wire is interconnect only: never connect the hot or neutral wires in the junction box to the orange interconnect wire. On a stand-alone install, tuck the orange wire into the junction box unused.

Same breaker: all interconnected units must be powered from the same fuse or circuit breaker.

Activate the back-up battery: remove the battery tab during installation, or the unit will not be protected during a power outage.

Test individually: when testing an interconnected series, each unit must be tested separately and every unit must sound.

Interconnect within one dwelling: interconnect only within a single-family residence, or all households will experience unwanted alarms during testing.

Smart Interconnect: alarms without the Smart Interconnect feature will remain silent during a CO alarm, even when interconnected.
