Amerex describes its ABC or multi-purpose agent as a specially fluidized and siliconized mono ammonium phosphate dry chemical, which melts and coats Class A fuels and breaks the chain reaction of Class B fires. The B417T is a stored-pressure drawn-steel cylinder with an anodized aluminum valve, handle and lever, and a plain nozzle rather than a hose.

Amerex lists 817 as the vehicle and marine bracket for its 2-1/2 lb and 3 lb aluminum-valve models, 817S as the two-strap version and 860 as the rubber strap.
